If you’re not part of the Supernatural fandom, the acronyms in this title probably mean nothing to you. However, although they’re part of a movement in one fandom, what they represent could benefit members of all fandoms. Here is some enlightenment: “AKF” stands for Always Keep Fighting, and was/is the name of actor Jared Padalecki’s campaign to raise funds and awareness for battling the stigma against mental illness. The movement is almost a year old, and since its conception it has raised many funds and much awareness for organizations like To Write Love On Her Arms. The movement has been widely embraced by the fandom, and during San Diego Comic-Con last year, we showed Jared how much both he and AKF mean to us.

Last week, fellow Supernatural actors Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins supported their castmate/friend’s mission to help fans who struggle with depression by launching You Are Not Alone, or YANA, via the Creation Stands website.

The funds raised by YANA will support a new project; the two actors have also decided to create the #SPNFamily Crisis Support Network in conjunction with Misha’s charity Random Acts and also with IMAlive and To Write Love On Her Arms. The goal? To help fans who suffer from depression, addiction, and self-harm.

As many conventions that I attend throughout the year, the Supernatural convention is the one I look forward to the most. This show and fandom hold the dearest place in my heart, and so, when the dates for the 2015 SoCal Supernatural con were announced, I knew I would attend, even though, at the time, I didn’t have anyone to go with. The last two cons, I went with my own, personal TFW–the Collectress and Spaniard–who weren’t in town when the 2015 tickets went on sale and had no set plans to return from abroad in time to attend. Although they’d only been in England less than a month, last year my girls travelled across the Pond to attend BurCon 2014 with me, but I didn’t have such high hopes for this year. Still, I really REALLY wanted to go, even if it meant heading to a fan con alone.

You all KNOW how much I love Jensen Ackles and when, on August 24, 2014, the actor, father and all around grumpy old man joined Twitter, he opened up his world to fans and allowed us to get a glimpse into his life. His hashtags are hilarious, he gets mad at the internet, and, hey kid, you’d better get off his lawn! In honor of Jensen’s one year Twitter-versary, here are my all time favorite tweets from Old Man Ackles (in order).

Find me over on Twitter and Tumblr rambling, per usual.

p.s. This post is dedicated to Jams, who’s having a crappy day. Go say hi and show her some love ❤

10) Jammin’ in the a.m.

He’s a musician. He jams. in the a.m. wearing sleeveless shirts! Yeah, guys, this is the first week Jensen got Twitter and I think the fans knew we were in for a bunch of really great selfies.

9) Live tweeting with Misha and Jared the 200th episode

The interaction between Jensen, Misha and Jared is fun to watch on screen and off. And Jensen? You are absolutely that type of girl.

Hello, class and welcome back to Shipping 101! Today we are exploring a controversial topic–RPF or, “real person/people fiction”. Shipping real people and not characters can be tricky, because these people are often in real life relationships and therefore it can feel a little squicky to think about the REAL people participating in fanfiction-esque activities. But, once you get past the trepidation, it can actually be a lot of fun. Many fandoms, especially “bandoms” (band fandoms), do the RPF thing, because the people are close in real life and because, well, fandoms are weird, and we like to imagine our faves together. For many years I have stayed away from RPF, but recent events have turned a page in my shipping textbook, and I come to you today with a very real need to carefully share my newest OTP, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins, AKA Cockles (insert heart eyes here).

This week has been hell.

Supernatural fans suffered through another season finale and, for my first time watching the show on season, I think I’m doing fairly well. I drank only 4 nights this week (every night since Tuesday), I cried only twice, I’ve had one demon!Dean dream and avoided lashing out at my angel and bro about stupid stuff by reading at least 50k words of Destiel fanfic.

And the Hellatus is just getting started.

Ouch.

So, I decided to put together a Hellatus care package for my favorite people, you obsessed fans of Supernatural who, like the Collectress and I, are in agony over the next 144 days of Winchester silence. The season finale wrecked my feels, tore apart my insides, and made me desperate for comfort from something other than a pint of mint chocolate chip Blue Bunny ice cream.

Supernatural Season 10 premieres Tuesday, October 14 at 9pm. Until then, I have a few suggestions on how to survive the 2014 Hellatus into what may be the last season of Supernatural. Ever. And Dean Winchester is a motherflippin’ demon. Just saying!

Breathe.

Good.

Better?

Here are a 5 easy steps to remaining calm and surviving the Hellatus. Good luck! I will see you on Tumblr, scrolling down…scrolling down…reblog…scrolling down…

1) Supernatural Conventions

J2M are on the convention circuit all summer long, ending the year out in SoCal with me at BurCon in November 1014. To get through Tuesdays sans the Winchesters, queue up some of the panel videos posted on YouTube. My favorites are always the J2 Gold session breakfast chats. The boys are adorable, comfortable and laid back, enjoying the fans and having fun with the Supernatural family. If you can get to a Con, go! If not, these fan made panel vids are a great way to get the meta scoop from cast, crew and fans. These cons are so fun. If you love SPN, you will have a helluva time.
