halloween-fics

Happy All Hallows’ Eve, shippers! This week, I’m bringing you thirteen fics  to sink your fangs into as you get into the spooky spirit. They’re grouped by fandom, with the author’s summary included as well as a little blurb about each by one of the Collective Team. Ships are labelled, warnings mentioned, and if you need a spooky playlist, click here.

Pairing: Darcy/Loki

Author’s Summary: This is her chance to stop it before it goes too far and she can’t take it back. She’s standing on the precipice and one more word from her could either send her plummeting over the edge or pull her back to safe ground.

Darcy dresses up as Lady Loki for Halloween and runs into the man himself.

My Thoughts: I wouldn’t have figured this pairing to be as sexy as it was but hot damn! I want a god of mischief to have his wicked way with me.

If money wasn’t an issue, what would you wear for Halloween?

Me? I’d pay someone to paint me entirely blue, Mystique-style.

Every year, I am continually fascinated (and amused) by the costumes donned by the rich and famous. Some actors seem to be tired of costumes and opt for simpler ideas, but others fully embrace the “Wear whatever the hell you want” atmosphere of All Hallows’ Eve.

Here are some of my favorite costumes from Halloween 2013. You may notice a tendency for geeky costumes.

Miranda Lambert as The Good Witch of Oz

I want to skip the yellow brick road with Mrs. Blake Shelton.

Adam Baldwin as…Himself? (Special Guest Star: Nathan Fillion‘s Tweet Response)

Nathan Fillion, the reigning Geek King of Twitter, gets one-upped by his previous Firefly co-star. (You don’t know how much it kills me inside to write “previous.” Browncoats unite! And wear a Jayne hat)

Happy All Hallows’ Eve, dear readers.

Now, since it is a Thursday and most of us can’t be partying it up like we want to (damn work and responsibility!), we’re going to put in our headphones and tune out the world until 5 pm when we can join the hordes of costumed deviants on sugar highs. To quicken your workday and put you in the right kind of spooky mood, here are my favorite creepy songs and Halloween favorites.

So sit back, munch on some candy corn, and have a listen to my 13 favorite Halloweeny songs. Creepy ambiance not included (but encouraged).

“The Monster Mash” by Boris Pickett and The Crypt Kickers

This one is a Halloween classic. You know you want to do the Mash.

“Thriller” by Michael Jackson

Possibly the most popular music video in history, and the most copied dance. Zombie it up, and pay homage to the Prince of Pop. (Also, enjoy Vincent Price’s narration)

What the f*&$ is “cosplay”?? WATCH THIS and find out.

Cosplay takes a lot of preparation, heart and investment–both time and sometimes financial. At cons, cosplayers come in all shapes, sizes, ages and genres; it’s like Halloween for geeks but with more moving parts. But don’t get us wrong, cosplay isn’t simply about dressing up, it’s about showing attention to detail and honoring the idea of a character you (or your parents) friggen adore. If you’re headed to SDCC2013 this weekend, you will probably see some pretty cool costumes, but don’t stop to take too many pictures of small children or you will look suspicious. Instead, let The Collective do all the leg work. We have scoured the interwebs for the best child-centric cosplay outfits and here are our top 10. We will shy away from the typical, generic dress up costumes and get right into the committed-nerd-parents-have-designed-an-epic-costume cosplay ideas.
