geek gifts

San Diego Comic Con is less than a week away, and the Collective bloggers are READY! The Spaniard shared ten tips to make con life easier, Collectress showed us where to fill in our dance cards, and I’m going to be your personal shopper for the chicest geek gear! If you’re planning on attending the show, you can find these collectibles on the floor, ready and waiting for you to take them home. Get your swag bag prepped, and check out these 5 exclusives at SDCC this year.
Star Trek Ale at the Star Trek Beyond Premiere
Shmaltz Brewing Company boldly goes to San Diego for the debut of its unique Collector’s Edition 50th Anniversary Release commemorating Star Trek 50, Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles. Available at the premiere of Star Trek Beyond (IMAX, Embarcadero Marina Park, July 20) and onsite at Comic-Con at the San Diego Convention Center.
Pop Funko’s Con Exclusives $10+
There will be hundreds (f not thousands) of Pop Funkos, but these collectibles will be at SDCC first. My mom doesn’t know it, but she’s getting an Indiana Jones souvenir (last year it was Darth Vader) and I’m getting Violet, of course.
Indiana Jones with the Golden Statue
Violet Beauregard
It’s that time of year again, when we are forced to go to graduations in the scalding heat of June and Dad pulls out the grill to get his BBQ on for Father’s day (June 19).
Here are 5 cool gifts for the grad or Dad in your life, gathered from the darkest corners of the interwebs for your convenience.
C. Diva
Find me over on Twitter and Tumblr rambling, per usual.
Star Wars Darth Vader Pen Holder $30
I’m not a dad, nor am I graduating, but I want this. Like, really, really bad. A great addition to the geeky stuff your fave grad/dad already has on their desk, this Darth Vader pen holder sure to make all the office droids jealous.
Hello Collective lovelies! Katie here, and the time has come to show the geeky mamas in our lives just how much we appreciate them. Well, actually, we should be showing them every day….but ESPECIALLY this Sunday because it is Mother’s Day! Today I’m going to share with you some gifts that I think would be perfect for every different kind of nerdy mom out there.
The Nerdy Cook
For the woman who loves to cook, there are a plethora of great nerdy kitchen items out there, here a few ideas.
A Death Star Waffle Maker

Oh yes, you heard that right. It’s a waffle maker shaped like a death star, so your mom can feel extra bada** as she destroys (eats) it. The dark side never looked so delicious.
Happy Holidays! Don’t know what to get your favorite fangirl or boy for Christmas? Have no fear! The Collectiva […]
I know, I know. On Wednesdays we write about Winchesters. You can all tweet your disappointment at me later. I got sidetracked, okay? It’s the end of term for me, and I wrote a 17 page essay in six hours today. So instead of blogging about Winchester angst, I decided I need to do something a little cuter and fluffier.
Let me tell you about Baby Slytherin.
My brother recently phoned me (while I was in a crowded restaurant no less!) and told me that in a few months, I’d be Auntie Collectress. Yes, coming summer 2015 is the affectionately (and somewhat biasedly) named Baby Slytherin. So like any good auntie, I immediately took to the interwebs to find cute baby clothes. Here are my Harry Potter favourites for the geek chic wee wizard, and just in time for Christmas.
Welcome to House Slytherin

Whether your geek is an Anglophile, a Trekkie or a member of Loki’s Army, here is The Collectiva Diva’s Christmas gift giving guide for the the chicest geek you know.
Keep it Real
The important thing to remember when shopping for a nerd is authenticity. Unless “knock off” is a term you want tossed around your Christmas tree, work on making sure the items you pick out are either a) kitschy and cute (ala Esty) or legit merch from the higher-ups. Networks like the BBCA and the WB have their own merchandise shops and pages such as ThinkGeek.com collect great nerd gear all on one website.
