Comic-Con International’s virtual gathering, aka Comic-Con@Home, is off to a bang with Preview Night. The digitally organized exhibit hall is live, panels and games have begun, and we here at the Collective are basking in the nerddom.
Not even a pandemic can keep nerds from being, well, super nerdy. Although conventions around the globe have been canceled and postponed, the world-famous Comic-Con International (AKA SDCC) is coming right to your living room this week from tomorrow, July 22, through Sunday, July 26. Oh, and did we mention that since it’s not taking place in San Diego, everyone can enjoy the content regardless of badge status?
The Collective Crew hasn’t missed SDCC since we were blessed with press badges back in 2015, and we aren’t about to stop now. Keep reading for the scoop on what to expect from this year’s Comic-Con@Home!

Aside from this blog, Chris Evan’s dog, and Cate Blanchett, my greatest love is probably cosplay. I love designing, I love creating, and I love collaborating with artists who share passions similar to mine. I’ve learned a lot about the community over the past few years, and I’ve learned that one of the most important relationships/connections that a cosplayer can foster is the one between photographer and cosplayer (you can read my post detailing the intricacies of this relationship here).

If the Collective stands for anything, it’s for the 3 F words: Fangirling, Feelings, and Feminism – and the convention we visited this week end has all those things in spades. We went to GeekGirlCon in Seattle and I am here to deliver the scoop. This was my third or fourth time at this con, and I was thrilled to see how it has continued to grow (I estimate it’s at least tripled in size since I first attended)!
My favorite thing to do at conventions is wander the exhibition floor. It’s part swap-meet, mostly nerd-fest, and the geeky consumer’s shopping paradise. For conventions like Los Angeles Comic Con that take place close to Halloween, well, there’s more than a few vendors who bring the spoopy.
