#motivationmonday: Veterans Day with Captain America

by The Collected Mutineer

Today is Veterans Day. Also known as Armistice Day in countries like England and Australia, this day is set aside to remember the sacrifices made by those who have served in the Armed Forces. I’m sure that many of us have family members and friends who have given years of their lives to serve their country. And nobody understands that better than our favorite symbol of freedom: Captain America.

If you’re a pacifist like I am, sometimes it can be hard to reconcile my gratitude toward the Armed Forces with my conscience that calls for peace. But characters like Steve Rogers remind me that it’s important to stand up for what’s right at all costs; that loyalty and bravery are vital; and that the goal of a good soldier is not to kill, but to keep the bullies at bay. Here are some of my favorite Captain America quotes to inspire and motivate you today.

“The price of freedom is high, it always has been. And it’s a price I’m willing to pay. And if I’m the only one, then so be it.”

“I don’t want to kill anyone. I DON’T LIKE BULLIES. I DON’T CARE WHERE THEY’RE FROM.”

“I’m just a kid from Brooklyn.”

“I’m with you ’til the end of the line.”

Be sure to thank a veteran today! And don’t forget, there’a a lot we can do to help these real-life heroes. Consider donating to causes like the DAV or Hope for the Warriors.
