The Mutineer’s fall reading list, courtesy of SDCC 2019

by The Collected Mutineer

San Diego Comic-Con has something for everyone—bookworms included! Many authors and booksellers showcase booths on the convention floor each year, and each year I come away with a new reading list. Here are the upcoming titles that caught my eye at SDCC 2019!

Cursed by Thomas Wheeler (illustrations by Frank Miller)

Available October 1, 2019.

Nimue grew up an outcast. Her connection to dark magic made her something to be feared in her Druid village, and that made her desperate to leave…

That is, until her entire village is slaughtered by Red Paladins, and Nimue’s fate is forever altered. Charged by her dying mother to reunite an ancient sword with a legendary sorcerer, Nimue is now her people’s only hope. Her mission leaves little room for revenge, but the growing power within her can think of little else.

Nimue teams up with a charming mercenary named Arthur and refugee Fey Folk from across England. She wields a sword meant for the one true king, battling paladins and the armies of a corrupt king. She struggles to unite her people, avenge her family, and discover the truth about her destiny. But perhaps the one thing that can change Destiny itself is found at the edge of a blade.

Sword and Pen by Rachel Caine

Available September 3, 2019.

Rachel Caine’s New York Times bestselling The Great Library series has enthralled readers. This heart-pounding alternate history is set in a world where the Great Library of Alexandria never burned and controls the flow of knowledge to the masses through alchemy. The Library is run by a group of ruthless and powerful individuals who have banned the personal ownership of books.

Full of action, adventure, and romance, this imaginative series follows a group of friends decides to infiltrate the organization and start a rebellion. Sword and Pen is the final novel in the bestselling series.

There Will Come a Darkness by Katy Rose Pool

Available September 3, 2019.

For generations, the Seven Prophets guided humanity. Using their visions of the future, they ended wars and united nations―until the day, one hundred years ago, when the Prophets disappeared.

All they left behind was one final, secret prophecy, foretelling an Age of Darkness and the birth of a new Prophet who could be the world’s salvation . . . or the cause of its destruction. As chaos takes hold, five souls are set on a collision course:

A prince exiled from his kingdom.
A ruthless killer known as the Pale Hand.
A once-faithful leader torn between his duty and his heart.
A reckless gambler with the power to find anything or anyone.
And a dying girl on the verge of giving up.

One of them―or all of them―could break the world. Will they be savior or destroyer? Perfect for fans of Throne of Glass, Children of Blood and Bone, and An Ember in the Ashes.
