By The Collectress
It’s 2019, Collectors, and convention season is officially beginning. Our first event of the year is quite popular in Southern California: Anime Los Angeles. It’s a small convention, but it’s quickly become one of our favorites over the past few years because of its friendly atmosphere and extensive number of vendors and artists. If you’re in the area, here’s a few things to check out at this year’s event:
the fashion show
The best in anime and nerdy fashion is set to appear on Friday, January 11 at 5 pm. This year’s designer lineup is headlined by ACDC Rag, an international fashion line that hails from Harajuku, Japan. The brand continually pushes boundaries with its designs, and will definitely be the highlight of the show.
Other designers slated to appear are Rimma Doi, Hamachi, Girl With One Eye, Sae Leona, Creators Guild, Ronova, Beyond the Boundary (post-gender fashion FTW), and Majesti Designs.
the dragon prince
The hit Netflix series is coming to ALA, and I know that the Mutineer is very excited to for it since she binge-watched the show and has been working on a Claudia cosplay.
There is a panel on Saturday, January 12 at 11 am, but the creators are also available for autographs at the convention.
Who are we kidding? The biggest reason we attend conventions is to see the amazing costumes created by fans to express and enjoy their favorite fandoms. In the past, we’ve seen Sailor Moon, Yuri On Ice, Dragonball Z, and many more fandoms represented that have absolutely blown our minds. We expect this year to be no different. If cosplay is your thing, be sure to check out the masquerade on Saturday evening!
also: support your favs
Some of our favorite fan artists are going to be at ALA this weekend, and we can’t wait to hand over our money to them. Please check out our previous features on Kalgado and Artinggrace! They will both be at ALA 2019 this weekend with some beautiful charms, prints, and more! Kalgado will be at table D-22, and Artinggrace will be at C-19! There are many more fabulous artists and vendors at the convention, so make sure you support your favs because they work hard at what they do!
