#MotivationMonday: Wisdom from Nikita Gill

Via The Teal Mango

I’m not going to lie. I discovered Nikita Gill after stumbling across a piece of Cassian Andor/Jyn Erso fanart that quoted her. Overlooking the journey of how it happened,  the value of what I found has been mesmerizing. Gill began writing as a child, having her first [non-fiction] story about her grandfather published in a newspaper. She went on to study design, distraction theory, and developed a passion for working with children with special needs. By 2015, she took to social media where her work expanded at volcanic speed, gaining the attention of thousands of people including celebrities. Her more recent publications include Your Soul is A River, Fierce Fairytales: Poems and Stories to Stir Your Soul, and Wild Embers: Poems of Rebellion, Fire, and Beauty. Here’s some Nikita Gill wisdom for or your week. May it remind you of the power of words and storytelling, as well as the power within you.

“Everything that terrifies you

these monsters

that keeps you up at night

that torment you

that make you feel small

unable to breathe

like you should not

exist at all,

you defeat them everyday

just by being alive,

this on its own proves that you are

and you already have

everything you need

to survive.”
