“Dear Enemy” by GingerTodgers
Pairing: Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter
Word Count: 69,130
Warnings: Slow burn
Author’s Summary:
An anonymous benefactor makes a generous donation to Harry Potter’s School for Squibs in exchange for a weekly letter from the Boy Who Lived.
What begins as a chore soon becomes the only outlet Harry has to talk about the war, love, life, hope, redemption, his renewed obsession with a certain blonde nemesis and how he really, honestly, believes that this will be the year Puddlemere United reclaim the Quidditch League Cup.
My Thoughts:
Ever since I was tasked with reading Pamela (and therefore Shamela) in grad school, I have loved epistolary novels, so it gives me no small amount of glee when I come across a fanfic that is written in epistolary format.
This story is set after the books conclude; Harry and Hermione have opened a school for squib children, and Draco has made a large, anonymous donation to keep the school open. All he asks is that Harry write him a weekly letter, and, of course, the more Harry writes, the more they fall in love.
Yes, it is kind of like that book Daddy-Long-Legs.
This one is long, and it is sweet. I cried tears of joy at the end.
Read if you like happy Drarry things.
