Today’s Motivation Monday is 10,000% brought to you by my current Star Trek high. In case you missed it, our beloved Captain Picard is returning to the screen in a brand new Star Trek show exploring his life post-The Next Generation. The Star Trek universe has long been a source of inspiration to many. Since the TOS premiere over 50 years ago, Star Trek has been about far more than futuristic space travel. It has taught audiences about being better world citizens (or galactic citizens, if you will); it has shown us that humanity can continue to improve, no matter the odds; and most importantly, it gave us lessons in humility, equality, and the self-motivation needed to always go boldly into our own futures.

Here are some of my favorite Trekkie quotes to give you some get-up-and-go this Monday morning.

“Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.” —Spock

“Live now; make now always the most precious time. Now will never come again.” —Jean-Luc Picard

“… the prejudices people feel about each other disappear when they get to know each other.” —James Kirk

“They used to say that if Man was meant to fly, he’d have wings. But he did fly. He discovered he had to.” —James Kirk

“Things are only impossible until they are not.” —Jean-Luc Picard

“Change is the essential process of all existence.” —Spock

“Compassion: that’s the one things no machine ever had. Maybe it’s the one thing that keeps men ahead of them.” —Dr. McCoy

“One man cannot summon the future. But one man can change the present! ” —Spock

“Leave bigotry in your quarters; there’s no room for it on the bridge.” —James Kirk
