Thespian Thursday: About Time

I have a friend, a good friend, who differs in opinion on almost every movie we see. Our tastes in comedy, drama, and epic differ greatly. Does anyone else have a friend like that? Anyway, this past weekend she said she wanted to bring over a film for movie night. I figured that I would have my typical response: meh.

I was wrong, and I am happy about it.

The film follows the life of Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) as he looks for love and happiness. As he enters real adulthood, his father (Bill Nighy) tells him that the men in their family have the ability to time travel to previous points in their own lives and do things differently. So when Tim meets Mary (Rachel McAddams), he meets her many times until he finally gets things right.

That’s about the simplest plot summary I can give without giving away what the film is really about. I will tell you, however, that I cried, absolutely cried, at the end of it. The film is about love, life, and most of all, about the people we hold closest to us.

Watch it if you enjoy offbeat British romantic comedies.

About Time is available to rent on Amazon Video.
