The rumors are true. Well, mostly.

Marvel’s Natasha Romanoff, aka the Black Widow, might finally get her own standalone film. This might sound like more wishful news conjured up by fans (trust me, I’ve been reading that headline for years now), but Marvel has finally taken a step in the right direction. Variety reported last week that the studio has found a writer for the project. This doesn’t mean that the project is greenlit by any means, but it’s a hell of a lot more than they’ve done in the past. Screenwriter Jac Schaeffer (yes, she’s a woman) was hired after Marvel executives met with ScarJo to help determine what type of person they wanted at the head of this story.

There should be more news in the near future. In the meantime, we’re looking forward to Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Captain Marvel. Hopefully, the continuing phases of the master plan will pan out with the same degree of success as the previous ones…only with more badass women like Natasha at the helm.

P.S. Am I the only person who thinks they might have been convinced to finally make this movie because of Red Sparrow?
