These words resonate with people all over the world. From Mexico to Syria, our fellow human beings are fleeing war, starvation, poverty, and genocide. Some are looking to create better lives for their families. Others are just trying to stay alive. No matter the motivation of those seeking safety and possible citizenship in the United States, immigration has been a hot-button issue since I can remember. And lately, with the Orange One at the head of the country, the conversation seems to be more at the forefront of everyone’s minds than ever before.

No matter your stance on undocumented workers, legal immigration, or refugees, here are three documentaries you should watch. The more we know, the more we can better empathize with and understand the plight of those who seek the American dream for themselves.
