“Let Me” by Violsva (AO3)
Pairing: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Word Count: 11,756
Author’s Summary:
Sherlock Holmes has suffered from insomnia all his life. When Watson realizes the extent of it, he searches for a way to comfort Holmes, and in the process confronts things neither of them have been saying.
My Thoughts:
While my favorite Johnlock fics are usually set in the modern universe established by BBC’s Sherlock, I occasionally come across a story set closer to (or sometimes in) the original Arthur Conan Doyle canon. “Let Me” is set in Victorian London, and explores Sherlock’s insomnia. I’m a complete sucker for the “I can’t sleep well unless we’re sleeping in the same bed” trope, and this story does not disappoint.
It’s elementary.
