The world was made of ice. Bare tree branches glistened with an inch of it; Sid’s sidewalk, when he ventured out, was a solid frozen sheet. Stalactites of ice hung from his gutters and thousands of tiny stalagmites poked up from his lawn between fallen tree limbs.

“Well, shit,” Sid said, and walked stiff-legged and careful back into the house.

My Thoughts

You don’t know how hard it is for me NOT to rec S/G fics every single week, that’s how much of this pairing I read, and yet I keep returning to this gem over and over again. This fic was published in January, it’s fairly short, and I’m not ashamed to say I’ve read it at least a dozen times, it’s that good. There’s something about, not only the enclosed setting of a snowstorm, but the content and reveal that makes this story feel incredibly intimate, as if the reader is privy to a very personal and cherished moment in time. I can’t say enough how well-written, lovely and HOT this story is. If you enjoy this pairing, read this fic and then read everything Snickfic has ever written, asap.
