Cosplay and Culture at Long Beach Comic Expo 2017

Long Beach Comic Expo

The Collective Bloggers attended LBCE 2017 on President’s Day Weekend! Despite the bad weather that Friday (not to mention that it was the same weekend as Gallifrey One and Katsucon), plenty of con-goers and cosplayers came to have a great time.

Below is a sampling of the amazing work we saw at LBCE, by cosplayers such as the amazing wonderwomanisrealmrleozombie, and more! As we were also in cosplay all weekend, we didn’t have a chance to take as many photos as we usually do. However, we were able to meet so many great cosplayers whom we’ve admired from afar on Instagram, like blondeshellcosplay and fashion_bunny. And honestly, that’s one of the most satisfying things about a convention; it’s not just about attending panels or buying things in Artist Alley. It’s about connecting with people, learning about each other, and being part of an inclusive community. Though many may worry that the cosplay world can be judgmental or narrow-minded, what I have experienced is the complete opposite. The cosplayers I meet are focused and driven to build each other up through creativity!

If you see yourself in this gallery, feel free to comment or contact us on Twitter so that we can give your hard costuming work credit.

Until next time,
