Convention season is never really over, is it, Collectors? LBCC 2016 is happening this weekend, September 17-18, 2016 at the Long Beach Convention Center, and the Collective Crew will be heading out to cover the event for you and we are SUPER excited. This is my first time at LBCC, and there are a few reasons I’m looking forward to this con besides the amazing Firefly panel that will be held on Saturday afternoon.

Photo Ops

We go to a lot of conventions throughout the year, but not all of them offer photo ops with the stars. This year, the cast of Firefly will be taking pics with fans, and all I have to say is SHINY.

The Columbia Memorial Space Expo

This innovative and one-of-a-kind program that will connect con goers with the world of scientific discovery. With panels featuring top aerospace industry notables discussing hot button scientific topics and interactive exhibits featuring robotics, 3D printing, and even a spacesuit, kids and adults alike will enjoy this sci-fi side dish free with entry fee.

Cardiff at the LB Library

As far as off site activities go, this one looks to be the one for me and my family of Whovians. The Long Beach Library will be holding Doctor Who themed events on both Saturday and Sunday at the local Cardiff Library, starting at 10am. Get there early, because the vortex waits for no Timelord.

The Epic Firefly Panel

I wouldn’t leave you hanging like that, dear reader. The cast of Firefly, including Nathan Fillion, Summer Glau, Adam Baldwin, Sean Maher and hopefully other cast members will be answering fan questions and discussing the upcoming 17 seasons of Firefly (a girl can dream) on Saturday at 3:30pm. There are also individual and a group photo op available, just in case you’re interested.
