As someone who grew up on a steady diet of Star Trek: The Original Series, and the Star Trek films, the passing of Leonard Nimoy last year felt a lot like losing a member of the family. This documentary, written and directed by Adam Nimoy, Leonard’s son, is a beautiful homage to his father, and to Spock, a character whose impact has changed the landscape of science-fiction.

The film was promoted at San Diego Comic Con 2016, and the number of Trekkers and SDCC volunteers walking around the convention with promotional shirts/bags/etc for the film was truly heartwarming to see. Watch the trailer below for a glimpse into Adam Nimoy’s moving tribute to Spock, and to his father.

The film will be available in select theaters and VOD on September 9.

Live long and prosper.
