“American Gods” Teases Audiences at SDCC 2016

american-gods-poster-comic-conNeil Gaiman’s novel, American Gods, is coming to STARZ in 2017, and I was lucky enough to sit in on the SDCC panel this year, which included the author himself, Neil Gaiman; Ricky Whittle, who plays ex-con “Shadow”; Ian McShane, the mysterious con man, “Wednesday”; Pablo Schreiber, as “Mad Sweeney”, the hottest leprechaun I’ve ever seen; Yetide Badaki as the goddess of love “Bilquis”; Bruce Langley as the creepy, modern god, “Technology Boy”; and surprise guest Kristin Chenoweth as “Easter”, the Germanic goddess of the dawn. Not only did audiences get to meet the cast for the first time, but we also were blessed by Bryan Fuller, writer and producer (“Hannibal”) of this upcoming series.

We got a bunch of new images from the series, including a Twitter pic from Gillian Anderson, who didn’t attend SDCC, but teased fans with this pic, highlighting her role as the new goddess, Media, while channeling Marilyn Monroe.

If you haven’t read the book, American Gods is the story of the old gods versus the new gods, with Shadow as our guide and narrator through this modern fairytale about magic, mystery and morality. Check out the trailer below, and be sure to set your DVRs to record, come 2017.
