The Annual Her Universe Fashion Show at San Diego Comic Con went off without a hitch earlier this evening. Ashley Eckstein looked fabulous in a one-of-a-kind Lego dress while 27 fashion designers revealed their unique couture designs, with the grand prize being able to work with Her Universe and Hot Topic on a special fashion line in the upcoming year.
I’m not going to tell you who won, you’ve got to visit ComicConHQ to find out–and while you’re there, watch the entire Her Universe reality series to get to know the designers of these 27 amazing couture pieces. My favorite piece of the night was an amazing homage to Dean Winchester–which included blood-like splatters and plaid; pretty much the epitome of dear old Dean.
Not only did audiences get the chance to enjoy the work of budding fashion designers, but we also got to see more of the Star Wars TFA line, which was revealed at WonderCon earlier this year. One piece that I hadn’t seen before was the Rey cardigan, which will be available in Hot Topic again soon, since it’s super cute and an obvious hit with fangirls everywhere.
What I always love about Her Universe–the diversity and accessibility of the fashion–remains true this season. Each model, designer and participant represents real women, with real body types and real passions. If you’re a fangirl who loves her fandom and wants to rep it loud and proud–at home, at school or out on the town–Her Universe fashion is for you.
Stay tuned for more SDCC exclusives. I have an interview with Ashley Eckstein, the founder and creator of Her Universe, this weekend. We’re going to gab about big girl clothes, lego dresses and all those geeky things that fangirls love.
