To be a hero, you don’t need super powers or a suit, you just need compassion and the desire to save and protect.
**** NEWS FLASH – SPOILERS AHEAD ****
Being a normal guy again is a huge challenge for Barry (Grant Gustin). His true nature is to protect and he feels now that his speed is gone he is useless. Not just to the people of Central City, but to Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) who is now a prisoner of Zoom/Jay/Hunter (Teddy Sears).
He is no match for Zoom and with the breach/portal still open, everyone in Central City is a target. It is with this in mind that Harry (Tom Cavanagh) is hell bent on finding his daughter Jessie and bringing her back to Star Labs where she will be safe.
Harry is able to find her by tracking her “cellular dead zones” which only those from Earth 2 leave behind. No hiding for them here on Earth 1. Unfortunately she refuses to come with him. She cannot forgive him all he has done in an effort to protect her.
While racing back to Star Labs, Harry literally runs into a meta with super human strength. Knocked out upon impact, the meta drags Harry out of the Star Labs van. The meta is Griffin Grey (Haig Sutherland), and he believes Harry is the Harrison Wells from Earth 1 and demands a way to make him normal again.
Turns out he not only got super human strength when the particle accelerator blew up, he is in oxi distress, which is aging him at an accelerated rate. Every time he exerts himself he ages. Harry tells him he can’t undo what is done, but Grey is adamant he finds a way or he will kill him.
Fortunately for Harry, the van was rigged with a camera and a tracking device so the gang at Star Labs has an image of the Grey and evidence from the scene of the accident to put the pieces together.
In addition, this brings Jessie (Violett Beane) back into the fold and just like Caitlin, who is stuck on Earth 2, has a background in bio chemistry. Using samples taken at the scene of the accident, she quickly figures out what’s going on with Grey, allowing Barry, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Joe (Jesse L. Martin) a chance to device a plan to take down Grey and save Harry. If they can get Grey to overexert himself, he will rapidly age and die.
Barry takes quite the beating through it all, but they are successful.
Now the question is without Barry’s powers how will they be able to rescue Caitlin from Zoom’s clutches?
Meanwhile on Earth 2…
Zoom/Jay/Hunter is convinced that over time, Caitlin will learn to love him again. All she wants is to go home, and she finds an unlikely ally in Killer Frost, who Zoom has kept locked up, obviously because she reminds him of Caitlin.
With some scientific know-how, Caitlin is able to thin the carbonite glass of the cell Killer Frost is captive in, which enables her to shatter it like plate glass. Once free, Killer Frost has no intention of helping Caitlin escape. She wants her dead. If she’s around, Zoom has no reason to keep her alive.
Before Killer Frost’s ice dagger can pierce Caitlin’s heart, Zoom shows up stopping the dagger and using it on Killer Frost. Furious, he threatens to kill the Man in the Iron Mask if she attempts to help him. As an added precaution, he chains Caitlin up.
Caitlin pleads with him to just let her go home. Zoom/Jay/Hunter has no intention of doing so, but he realizes to date he has been counting the number of people he has killed. Maybe it’s time to count the Earths he has conquered. With that he whisks Caitlin away, headed to Earth 1 to pillage and plunder, Zoom style.
Wally meets Flash
Hell bent on thanking Flash for giving up his speed to save him, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) pesters Joe till he arranges the meeting. He promises to not waste the second chance he’s been given.
Father and Daughter United
The trauma of Grey kidnapping Harry forced Jessie to realize she can’t live without her Father, she just needs him to be a Dad, not her super protector. After a heartfelt conversation Harry vows to be just that.
On a final note…
Harry believes by recreating the particle accelerator explosion Barry will be able to regain his speed. But at what risk to Barry?
