Love is the ultimate motivator. We never know just how far we’ll go in the name of love until we are tested or pushed to prove our devotion.
**** NEWS FLASH – SPOILERS AHEAD ****
Zoom (Tony Todd) knows Harry (Tom Cavanagh) is back on Earth 2 and didn’t come alone. He is one pissed off villain and will stop at nothing to track down Harry and eliminate him. This just makes the clock tick faster for Harry and Cisco (Carlos Valdes), whose mission to rescue Jessie is now twice as tricky since Flash is also a captive of Zoom’s.
As if that’s not bad enough, they almost forgot about Barry (Grant Gustin) from Earth 2 who was tied up in a closet. He’s awake and not happy about his treatment. He wants an explanation, but there’s no time for that, Zoom is in Star Labs and can smell blood.
Ducking into a Time Vault, the trio is able to slip past Zoom and escape Star Labs. Needing a place to regroup and make a new plan, the trio heads to the CCPD, where Barry 2 gets Iris 2 (Candice Patton) up to speed.
Since Zoom is untrackable, they decide to do the next best thing, locate his ally Killer Frost. Using Barry 2’s high-tech forensic science computer program they track her in a matter of minutes. Now the challenge is convincing her to reveal Zoom’s lair.
Iris 2 doesn’t want Barry 2 to come along, but he insists. If she’s going so is he. He promised Joe he would look out for her.
Initially putting up a fight, Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) appears to be a dead-end, but Cisco knows her doppelganger Caitlin from Earth 1 and uses the fact that she was devastated when Ronnie died as a means to get through to her. By hitting this soft spot and pointing out that Zoom will do to their loved ones what he did to Deathstorm is enough for Killer Frost to change teams.
With Killer Frost on their side, the newly assembled Team Flash follows her to Zoom’s lair at Ascension Cliffs. She even goes the extra mile by building a stairwell of ice up to the entrance.
Life in Zoom’s Dungeon
While Team Flash was working their way to Zoom’s lair, the three captives found themselves bonding, and not just because they are all Zoom’s hostages. Flash gets Jessie (Violett Beane) to realize that her Father is not a selfish, only out-for-himself man, but one whose every decision and action was based on how to save his daughter.
They also figure out that the Mysterious Man in the Iron Mask has been using a 5 x 5 tap code in effort to communicate. Once deciphered they discover he’s been tapping out “Jay Garrick” but why will have to wait because Zoom shows up putting an end to this nice little prisoner chat.
Zoom also proceeds to prove what a formidable force he is by morphing through the glass wall confines of Flash’s cell and beating the crap out of Flash.
Battered and bruised Flash is hopeful that he too could morph through the glass, unfortunately because the speed frequencies on Earth 2 do not match those of Earth 1 he is unable to escape.
Team Flash to the Rescue
Things are not all bleak for Zoom’s captives though, Killer Frost successfully leads Team Flash to the dungeons and aids in breaking Jessie free from her shackles. Unfortunately her powers are useless against the carbon-based glass of Flash’s cell.
On the verge of giving up on the idea he will ever leave his cell, Flash gets a pep talk from an unlikely source, his doppelganger, Barry 2.
Barry 2 lays it on the line. Stressing all that they did to get there. Pointing out that he did things he didn’t think were possible, and he’s just Barry Allen, so, as Flash he can too. You just have to tell yourself you can do it.
The pep talk did the trick, Flash achieves what he thought impossible, morphing through his glass cage.
Too bad they didn’t move a bit faster. As they’re trying to escape, Zoom shows up, thanking Killer Frost for bringing them to him. Looks like she double-crossed them after all.
Or did she, just as Zoom is about to kill Jessie, Killer Frost shoots him with her freeze rays. Covering him under a mound of ice so they can all escape.
Back on Earth 1
With the portal stabilized, the only thing left to tackle is the Geomancer (Adam Stafford) who is still wreaking havoc all over Central City.
Discovering that although Velocity 7 helped Jay gain his speed back, it didn’t last, plus it was altering his cells, in a not so good way, leads Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) to go the extra mile to save Jay. After a little tweaking, Caitlin makes a successful batch, Velocity 9. It does the trick and Jay (Teddy Sears) saves the day. Too bad he’s tired and needs a nap.
While he’s napping Geomancer shows up at Star Labs, hell bent on destroying the building. Quick moving Caitlin uses the stun gun on him, but not before his ground hand pounding throws the portals stability off again.
By rebooting the electromagnetic insulators with the help of Joe (Jesse L. Martin), Jay successfully gets the portal up and running without a minute to spare.
As Caitlin turns on the speed canon, Cisco and Jessie come through the portal.
Back on Earth 2, Flash discovers that Zoom has escaped from Killer Frost’s ice mound and has Harry. Things don’t look good, but Harry is one up on Zoom, he’s got a knife hidden. As Harry stabs Zoom, Flash quickly grabs Harry and goes through the portal.
Once Harry and Flash are safely in Star Labs, Jay throws the neutralizing bomb into the portal.
Before the portal is completely closed, Zoom reaches through, putting his hand threw Jay’s chest, dragging him back to Earth 2.
When is poor Caitlin ever going to get a break in the love department?
