Okay, x-philes, we have less than 2 weeks before the Sunday, January 24 premiere of The X-Files revival miniseries, and I am PUMPED! The cult sensation is back after being off the air since 2002, and thank goodness this isn’t a reboot–we actually get the real thing, starring the incomparable Gillian Anderson (“Dana Scully”) and David Duchovny (“Fox Mulder”), who are reprising their roles as our two favorite spooky FBI agents searching for the truth in this 6-episode event on FOX.
Just this past Tuesday in Los Angeles, the X-Files team came out to show the first episode to industry folks and fans alike, with Gillian and David making a stop on the Jimmy Kimmel to “do it” on the desk.
Recently, I have been catching up on the old series, and the rewatch has reminded me why these characters and themes are so beloved by not only me (and my mom), but fans everywhere. I didn’t know what to call it back when the show first aired, but Mulder/Scully are the first ship I ever really shipped. X-Files was the first “adult” genre tv show I was allowed to watch (besides Star Trek), and in high school, I would stay up til 9pm on Friday evenings and watch it with my mom. We went to see both the films together, and, so this is a big deal around my household. When the time comes to enjoy season 10, I know that my mom will be calling me each week for a meta discussion that I should probably take notes during.
I cannot wait.
If you’re as excited about this revival as I am, meet me back here each week for my show recap and review and let me know in the comments what you’re most looking forward to.
The Truth Is Still Out There…
The X-Files premieres on FOX, Sunday, January 24 at 10pm.
