The act of forgiveness does not exonerate the one who inflicted the pain, but releases the victim from the burden that pain was putting on their soul. By releasing this pain, the door for healing and moving forward is opened.
**** NEWS FLASH – SPOILERS AHEAD ****
Barry/Flash’s (Grant Gustin) efforts to find happiness with Patty takes a major hit when Mark Mardon/Weather Wizard (Liam McIntyre) works his magic to break Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and James Jesse/Trickster (Mark Hamill) out of prison with the intent to finally put an end to Flash, figuring this is the ideal time to attack because Flash is vulnerable since his battle with Zoom. So bad-guy-like to kick a man when he’s down.
With Mark Mardon/Weather Wizard back in town, Patty (Shantel VanSanten) goes into Supercop mode, determine to track him down and end his life, just like he did her Father’s. This is a side of Patty Barry didn’t even know existed and it worries him. Nothing like dealing with a wacked out girlfriend hell bent on revenge while three equally wacked villains have your head on the top of their Christmas List.
Captain Cold, feeling a bit of debt to Flash for saving his Sister, bows out of the villainous trio; too bad he won’t give Flash a clue as to where the others are hiding.
It takes the keen eye of Harry (Tom Cavanagh), Wells from Earth 2, and Patty to spot a reflection in the eye of the Trickster during a video message, which leads Flash and Patty, separately, to an old toy plant that made the Mr. Jiggle Wiggle toy. A toy that turns out is very sentimental to both Harry and Patty. This location is nothing more than a trap, fortunately Flash is able to get both he and Patty out safely before the building blows. He is however unsuccessful at defusing Patty. Going deeper into her rage, she confesses that she is the one who killed her Father. By blowing off coming to work at the shoe shop he owned, her Father had to take the day’s deposit to the bank, which put him right in the path of Mark Mardon. It should have been her that was killed that day, not her Father.
This sacred info discovered at the hands of Barry’s alter ego is sure to have an impact on whether he keeps Patty in the dark regarding his secret identity. Can’t find happiness when keeping secrets from your partner.
A drop in the atmospheric pressure cues Team Flash that Weather Wizard is in motion. He’s chosen Central City Tree Lighting Ceremony as his dramatic backdrop to exploit Flash. Even with Cisco’s nifty Weather Wand, which can counteract Weather Wizard’s talents, Flash is helpless when it is revealed that the Trickster, disguised as Santa, has handed out 100 beautifully wrapped bombs to unsuspecting children all over Central City.
The location of each bomb will not be revealed unless Flash allows Weather Wizard and Trickster to humiliate and slaughter him in the Town Square, for all to see. Turning over the wand, Flash proceeds to literally fight for his life.
With Flash hanging by a thread, Harry steps in with a plan to eliminate the bombs. Once they track down one bomb, they can change its magnetism, attach it to a drone and send it into one of the 52 breaches. The reverse magnetism will draw all the other bombs into the breach after the first one.
As the last bomb blows and Flash gets the all clear, he pops to, taking care of the Trickster and Weather Wizard in a matter seconds. His work is not complete though, he still has Patty to deal with, who has used the meta boot to polarize him and is on the verge of eliminating Weather Wizard AKA Mark Markdon. Flash’s eloquent speech about how her Father wouldn’t want her to go to prison does the trick this time. Patty comes to her senses and arrests Weather Wizard, putting an end to his “rain” of terror.
ON THE ZOOM FRONT
Harry discovers that Zoom (Tony Todd) isn’t trying to kill Flash; he just wants him to get stronger. The more power he has, the more Zoom can take. Dangling Harry’s daughter as bait, Zoom suckers Harry into helping him steal Flash’s speed.
WEST FAMILY ADDITION
Finding it difficult to live with the truth that her Mother was pregnant when she left town, Iris (Candice Patton) confesses to Joe (Jesse L. Martin) that he has a son, Wally. Initially Joe doesn’t know how to react, but by forgiving Francine, he finds peace and is ready to accept his son into his life. But is his son even interested in getting to know the Father he never knew he had?
BARRY OPENS THE DOOR FOR HAPPINESS
In a bold move, Barry finally releases the hate he’s been holding in his heart towards Harrison Wells. Allowing him a chance to find happiness, hopefully with Patty.
AND, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) finally gets her man, under the mistletoe!
The Flash will return on January 19.
