This week The Collective gals spontaneously fangirled in their writing, following the Collectiva Diva’s post on Jensen Ackles’ tweets and the Spaniard’s dreamy Hiddleswooning article. Okay, so maybe not so spontaneously. So I’m just gonna jump right in and fangirl along with my cohorts.
Facebook told me this morning that my beloved Tahmoh Penikett had been named #13 in a list of Canada’s 25 Hottest Bachelors. Obviously there was a typo on the list and they accidentally added a “3” behind the “#1,” because I mean, c’mon, take a look at the photo op I took with Tahmoh last year and try not to swoon!
Ok, now I’m swooning because damn.
While I disagree with Tahmoh’s placement on the list, I must say that seeing the article on my Facebook feed pushed me into a spiral of fangirling that nearly prevented me from finishing my dissertation. And then I went through Tahmoh’s filmography and then whoops, I made this list of five things starring Tahmoh that you should absolutely watch, and not just because the man is swoon-worthy but because he’s got badass talent.
Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009)
This one’s a no-brainer. I first fell in love with Tahmoh when he was introduced as Karl “Helo” Agathon in the premiere episode of the reimagined series, and it’s still my favourite role he’s done. A soldier who falls in love with one of the enemy and it doesn’t end in tragedy? I will ship Helo/Athena until I die.
Dollhouse was a scifi show that sadly fell prey to Fox’s tendency to axe genre television, but Tahmoh’s Agent Paul Ballard still sticks with me as one of the most badass characters I’ve seen on television. And paired with Eliza Dushku’s Echo? Electric and more-than-slightly intimidating.
The Portal/Riftworld Chronicles (2014, 2015)
I’m fangirling too hard to write about this one. Watch all of this series. Right now. I’ll wait. Don’t believe me? Watch the trailer.
Ok, so it appears that I have a thing for watching Tahmoh in scifi television shows. I make no apologies. Continuum, which follows the story of a female time-traveling cop, shows a different side of Tahmoh’s acting abilities, however, by casting him as a politician. I don’t want to give away spoilers so, again, watch it.
Y’all knew this one was coming because I’m still fangirling about the fact that one of my favourite actors had a recurring role on my favourite television series. Tahmoh’s portrayal of an angel looking for redemption because he loved humanity too much sounds familiar, right? Right? Every time I think of Gadreel’s story, I get sucker-punched in the feels. Hands down the best part of SPN’s ninth season. Here’s a snippet of Tahmoh as Gadreel but be warned for season 9 spoilers and angst like whoa.
Need more Tahmoh? Yeah, of course you do my darlings. Here, have this adorable gif from the SPN parody:
