The cast and creators of the hit show Once Upon a Time attended San Diego Comic-Con International for a panel on Saturday. It was a joy to watch our favorite characters interact with each other on stage, and trust me when I say that Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan) and Lana Parilla (Regina/The Evil Queen) are even more beautiful in person. They were joined by Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White), Josh Dallas (Prince Charming), Robert Carlyle (Rumplestiltskin), Emilie de Ravin (Belle), Colin O’Donoghue (Hook), Sean Maguire (Robin), and Rebecca Mader (Zelena). Executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz were also present to help give the audience some insight about the creation and direction of the show and its Storybrooke population.

There were two primary highlights of the panel, during which Kitsis and Horowitz shared sneak peeks of where the mightily anticipated season 5 will take us. The end of season 4 saw the dark entity that usually embodies the Dark One run free—to keep Regina, her family, and the town safe from inevitable destruction, Emma allowed it to take root in her, keeping the darkness contained within one body.

Talk about both thrilling and heartbreaking. See the video below for a glimpse of the Dark Swan.

We will also be getting a new character this season! Check out this clip for your first look at the independent and free-spirited Merida.

The new season premieres on ABC September 27 at 8/7c.
