Author’s Summary

Everybody always says that if/when you meet your soulmate, you’ll just know. That everything will be sunshine and daisies, and behold a light shall shineth down from heaven. That’s pretty much always how it goes in those movies. They see each other across a crowded ballroom, courtroom, bump into each other reaching for the same loaf of organic oatmeal flax bread at Whole Foods.

The media lies, people! That totally didn’t happen!

or,

Soulmates Stiles and Derek meet, but don’t notice their fledgling soulmate bond.

My Thoughts

Alright, so I divulged last week in our Collective AMA that I’m a sucker for soulmate fics, so it shouldn’t surprise you that I’ve turned up with a soulmate fic rec this week.

OK, so let me list a few things I love about this fic:

  •  Slow burn romance. Because Derek and Stiles don’t meet right away, and it’s written from Derek’s POV and Stiles’ blog, there’s a nice slow build up that leads to them fitting into each other’s lives beautifully.
  • Laura Hale. Enough said.
  • Unique perspective on the soulmate trope. So I’ve read a lot of soulmate fics, and this is the first one I’ve read where the soulmates meet before they meet. The bond is forged, they each know the other exists, but there are no frantic searches, no desperate pleas on every form of social media to “please find me.” I think it’s that confidence, that definite assurance that what they have is a sure thing, that makes this story so special.

Read this if you love Sterek, if you love slow burn romances, and if you’re a sucker for soulmates (like me).

Happy reading, shippers.
