The time has come, fannibals.
Hannibal Season 3 airs on Thursday, June 4 at 10pm on NBC and the Collective crew is ready to spend the summer sampling this delicious treat with our new podcast, “Lunch with Lecter” premiering on Monday, June 8. Starting with the season premiere, “Antipasto”, you can expect a lively weekly discussion about themes, characters and mytharc of the show between Jeremy Caesar and myself, one which we hope will keep you coming back for seconds until you’re bursting at the seams (and the season is over).
spoilers ahead, Sweetie…
If you remember the end of Season 2, we left everyone bloody and dying, with Lecter on an airplane with Bedelia. Alana, Jack and Will were all in pretty bad condition, so it’s hard to know what is going to happen with the locals, but audiences will recognize a number of literary characters from Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon and Hannibal books this season, giving the show a wider scope and more intricate mythology.
Here’s what we know so far.
Gillian Anderson has been upgraded to series regular.
Zachary Quinto is on the call sheet, but his character is yet unknown.
Joe Anderson has replaced Michael Pitt as ‘Mason Verger’.
Raul Esparza will return to the role of ‘Dr. Frederick Chilton’.
Eddie Izzard MAY return to the role of the ‘Dr. Abel Gideon’.
Glenn Fleshler will play ‘Cordell’, ‘Verger’s’ personal doctor.
We will meet ‘Inspector Rinaldo Pazzi’ and he and ‘Will Graham’ work together at some point.
Richard Armitage will play ‘Francis Dolarhyde’ AKA the Tooth Fairy.
Tao Okamoto has been confirmed to play the role of ‘Lady Murasaki’.
I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to return to this dark thriller and bring my knowledge of the literary text, the films and my love of the show to “Lunch with Lecter”, a weekly podcast with Jeremy Caesar premiering right here on The Collective Blog next week, June 8.
Until then, my friends, stay hungry.
xoxo C. Diva
