At Ease, Mr. Spock

 Leonard Nimoy 1931-2015

It is with a heavy, heavy heart that I write this post and say goodbye to an old friend, someone my family spoke of as fondly as if he’d been an uncle rather than a film and television star that we’d never met. I had the opportunity, about five years ago, to attend  a screening of Star Trek: The Voyage Home at Paramount Studios and to hear Mr. Nimoy speak of his work in person. It was the fulfilment of a childhood dream, and the beginning of my quest to pursue my passions the way Mr. Nimoy had.

So, thank you, Leonard Nimoy, for making us smile.

Thank you for your wisdom, your compassion, and your generosity.

Thank you for your artistry and your poetry.

Thank you for occasionally creeping us out.

Above all, thank you for being our friend.

You have inspired generations. We have been and always shall be, your friend.
