Obligatory Star Wars Episode VII Post

For those of you living under a rock, George Lucas’ Star Wars: Episode VII Trailer was released last week, during a haze of Turkey coma and Black Friday deals, and the interwebs is excited.

The Force Awakens is set to release December 18, 2015 and this is the first teaser trailer of many, I’m sure. The film, directed by J.J. Abrams, who gave us the recent Star Trek reboot films and starring Harrison Ford, Andy Serkis, Peter Mayhew, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Lupita Nyong’o, among others, is highly anticipated while remaining under intense scrutiny from sci-fi nerds. While so many of us have issues with the 3 most recent installments of the Star Wars saga, this release looks to be taking the best of the old school episodes 4-6 (Stormtroopers, X-Wings) and infusing those remnants with the technological advances in film not available for episodes 1-3. This teaser reminds me of the first Chris Pine Star Trek, which infused new technology with the old school themes and imagery of the Star Trek series, giving the film a vintage feel by continuing the universe building of the original and taking characters we love on new journeys.

All we know about the plot of this film is that it is set 30 years after the events of “Return of the Jedi” and we will most likely see Han Solo, Luke and Leia Skywalker and the effect of the Force awakening on their families.

This is a story I can get behind.

Things I am excited about:

the black stormtrooper

Lupita

the woman on Tatooine

Harrison Ford as Han Solo again!!
