The Collectress Picks 5: B-Movies

I have a special place in my heart, and my film collection, for bad sci-fi and horror movies. There’s something refreshing about writing and film making that’s intentionally corny and awful. So if not-quite-perfect CGI and ridiculous plots are your kind of thing, check out these 5 films.

  • Sharknado (2013)

Starring Tara Reid. Nuff said.

  • Mothra (1961)

In addition to Godzilla, Japan also gave us this gargantuan moth. One of my all time favs.

  • House on Haunted Hill (1959)

You might recognize Vincent Price’s voice from Disneyland’s “The Haunted Mansion.” Or perhaps from one of his many, many filmed adaptations of the works of Edgar Allan Poe.

  • Cabin Fever (2002)

Starring Boy Meets World‘s Rider Strong, this one is all blood and guts and ridiculousness. (Sidenote: the end makes the movie.)

  • Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus (2009)

This is exactly what it sounds like: big, loud, and over-the-top ludicrous. I love it.
