The Collectress Picks 5: ALS Ice Bucket Challenges

Unless you’ve gotten kicked off your wi-fi one too many times, beaten all your technology into pulp, and then tossed it into Mordor, you’ve probably seen one of the “Ice Bucket Challenge” videos.

For those who don’t know, the Ice Bucket Challenge supports the ALS Association, which is a nonprofit organization devoted to fighting Lou Gehrig’s disease. The premise of the challenge is this: donate money to the ALSA or get a bucket of ice water dumped on your head, and then you challenge 3 more people to do the same. Many celebrities have  taken this to heart, taking the ice bucket challenge as well as donating money to the organization.

So here are my 5 favorites. Some celebrities have gotten quite…creative.

1. Robert Downey, Jr.

2. Nicole Richie, Gavin Rossdale, and Jessica Alba

The fact that Gwen Stefani is the one throwing ice water on them makes this so much more awesome.

3. Lady Gaga

The  lady has flair.

4. Misha Collins

This one was just posted this morning, and I love that Mish-Mish challenged his SPN costars. C’mon, J2, get cold and wet for a good cause!

5. Orlando Jones

This one is my favorite because the Sleepy Hollow star tackles two significant issues in one video. ALS is a debilitating and horrible disease, but what is happening in Ferguson is just as much a disease, but for that one there is a cure. Hats off to you, Orlando Jones, for taking the challenge and for standing up for tolerance.

Honorable Mentions

That one is for the Spaniard. Enjoy the white t-shirt, darling.

And that one is because John Barrowman.

JarPad just posted his, so I felt obligated to come back and include it. Mostly because he’s in the Winchester plaid.

ALS is a terrible disease, and I’m glad that celebrities have taken the cause to heart and used their stardom to influence change. If you haven’t been challenged yet, don’t worry, neither have I. You don’t have to be challenged to donate money. And besides, I’m still waiting on the Overlord to call me with a challenge. He knows where to find me.
