The Tomorrow People may not have gotten renewed another season, but Robbie Amell is not leaving the CW quite yet.
The announcement that 26-year old cousin to actor, Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen) will be joining the cast of Flash, an Arrow spin-off, which premieres on the CW Fall 2014 (it’s on before Supernatural FYI). Robbie Amell joins Grant Gustin, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Tom Cavanagh, Rick Cosnett and John Wesley Shipp in a shining ensemble cast that will consist of some pretty important members of the Justice League. In fact, Stephen tweeted the news this morning, congratulating his cousin on joining the DC family.
Robbie is set to play “Ronnie Raymond”, one half of the nuclear “Firestorm” duo and an integral part of the DC Universe. We will see his character starting in episode 3 as the fiance of “Caitlin Snow” (later known as “Killer Frost”).
I love that, while Marvel has, without a doubt, taken over the big box office comic book movie genre, DC is quietly coming up with quality television with shows like Arrow and Flash (and even Gotham of FOX) to wow audiences on the small screen. I have high hopes for this series, and cannot wait to enjoy the series premiere, happening on Wednesday, October 7 at 8pm.
