The Tompocalypse Continues with ‘Coriolanus’

A good friend of mine is…what’s the word…Hiddlestoned. Meaning she’s probably reading this blog post right now because she reads everything on the internet tagged “Tom Hiddleston.” She informed me not too long ago of the impending “Tompocalypse” on Tumblr because of his recent appearance on the long-running auto show Top Gear, the behind-the-scenes Thor 2 footage of him in Captain America’s uniform (Chris Evans he is not), and, most importantly, because her beloved Tom is currently taking a turn across the boards in London as the title character in William Shakespeare’s Coriolanus.

Now, for us poor Anglophiles who are forced to daydream of living across the Pond, National Theatre Live has thrown us a lifesaver to pull us away from drowning in lakes of our own tears: they are broadcasting into select U.S. cinemas on select dates.

Be still, Hiddlestoned hearts, because it will look like your Tom is looking right through you when he says, “If you have writ your annals true, ’tis there, that, like an eagle in a dove-cote, I flutter’d your Volscians in Corioli: alone I did it.”

You may commence your swooning now.

If my Hiddlestoner friend is reading this: happy birthday, darling. I promised you Tom, didn’t I? Here he is. (We have tickets to buy.)
