The BBC released a photo of the 12th Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, into the time vortex today, and I must say, the Doctor is looking mighty geek chic. With a long, Victorian-esque coat equipped with a shiny red lining, skinny trousers and shiny black boots, Capaldi has picked his signature outfit for the role, which will help define his character as Whovians get to know this new regeneration. The Scottish actor was announced as the next face of the Doctor back in August, soon after Matt Smith revealed he was leaving Doctor Who.

While fans of the show wait for series 8, set to premiere in Fall 2014, we happily take what we can get from the BBC and Steven Moffat, including a picture from Peter Capaldi’s first day on set filming Doctor Who with companion “Clara”, played by Jenna Coleman.

The first episode of series 8 has been written by Steven Moffat and will be directed by Ben Wheatley. As always, Moffat, Dark Lord of All, has been very tightlipped about the production, only stating, “First the eyebrows! Then, at Christmas, the face! Coming soon, the whole Doctor. In the Cardiff studios, the Capaldi era begins” (BBC One).

We can’t wait to see you again, Doctor. Hurry back to earth!
