Hello shippers, and happy New Year! As another holiday gift from me to you, and to celebrate the fact that Sherlock is FINALLY returning, I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite Johnlock fics.

So if man love between a consulting detective and an army doctor isn’t for you, you may want to look elsewhere.

Author’s Summary: Sherlock is diagnosed with a terminal illness. Warning: angst like whoa.

A Cure for Boredom by emmagrant01

Author’s Summary: They’d never talked about sex in the year they’d known each other. Well, that wasn’t quite correct: Sherlock had never said a word about sex; John had bemoaned his personal dearth of it on many occasions.

My Thoughts: The most infamous fic in the Johnlock fandom, and I only read it because of the recommendation by the Collectiva Diva, Queen of Smut. The chemistry between John and Sherlock is practically tangible, but I really only have one thing to say about this one: Cinnamon. 

Hanging on the Telephone by sherlocklives

Author’s Summary: Sherlock has sent John off to deal with a case by himself, but it seems as if the detective is missing his blogger. Amazing things, phones, aren’t they?

My Thoughts: Gotta have one PWP on every rec list, and this one is hawt.

The Heart on Your Sleeve by flawedamythyst

Author’s Summary: Sherlock stared at the imperfect circle on his left wrist in horror, then sat down on his bed with a bit of a thump. After over thirty years, his heartmark was finally showing activity. This was not good.

My thoughts: Would you like some awwwwwwwwwww to go with that?

Author’s Summary: Following the encounter with Moriarty, Sherlock and John grow closer via text messages.

My Thoughts: I love this author. Read everything by her.

The Linguistic Propensities of Sherlock Holmes by dcfg21

Author’s Summary: John is turned on by the sound of Sherlock’s voice and his penchant for large words. Sherlock finds out.

My Thoughts: Um, just thought thought of Benedict Cumberbatch reading aloud is enough to make me swoon. Read my original rec here.

Performance in a Leading Role by MadLori

Author’s Summary: AU. Sherlock Holmes is an Oscar winning actor in a career slump, John Watson is an Everyman actor trapped in date movies. When they are cast as a gay couple in a new film, will they surprise each other? Will their on-screen romance become reality?

The Pull of One Magnet to Another by ellie.hell

Author’s Summary: Mummy has arranged Mycroft’s marriage with an ex-army doctor. However, John meets Sherlock first, and sparks fly.

My thoughts: Yes, the sparks do fly, and I love how the author has made John and Sherlock irresistible to each other.

Seven Moons by ladyflowdi

Author’s Summary: “This is happiness?” John asks, utterly heartsick, holding up his wrists and rattling the chains. “You’ve sold me for six gold mines and protection along the northern border.”

My Thoughts: This one is Omegaverse and has a lot of kinks, including mpreg. Even so, it’s well written and still has Sherlock and John solving murders. I hate that it’s WIP.

Waking You Up by brbsoulnomming

Author’s Summary: Written for a prompt over on sherlockbbc_fic, part of which is: “John dies and Sherlock blames himself, so much so that the guilt begins to affect his life. However, he keeps getting dreams of John talking to him and assuring him that he’s not dead.”

My Thoughts: Oh the angst. The angst! I love it.

The Whore of Babylon is a Very Nice Girl by out_there

Author’s Summary: Sherlock walks into a room and takes all the space right out of it. He does the same inside John’s head.

My Thoughts: Pretty sure this one burned my laptop from the hotness.

With All My Heart by Quinn Anderson

Author’s Summary: AU in which every time a person falls in love, a red line like a tally mark appears on their wrist. Sherlock is determined to keep himself from ever gaining one of these marks for fear that love will corrode his mental faculties. Then he meets John Watson. Johnlock

My Thoughts: Awwwwwwwwwwww.

34 Minutes by bendingsignpost

Author’s Summary: An experiment in eye contact. 

My Thoughts: Um, if the science behind this fic is real…can I borrow Benedict Cumberbatch for 34 minutes?
